About the Artist

Lynn A. Fraley, sculptor

Nationally recognized for her work in photo-realistic mixed media, ceramic and bronze sculpture, her sculptures have graced the covers of magazines The Chronicle of the Horse and The Hobby Horse News and are included in private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Australia.

Ms. Fraley's fascination with horses, their place in history and art have encouraged her to lead international outreach and learning projects; she is a founding member of the Realistic Equine Sculpture Society. She has taught equine sculpure at the Boise Art Museum and has conducted her Wire to Whinny workshop in locations around the country.

Her life beyond horses includes a previous career in marketing, putting to good use the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration she earned at Arizona State University. Additional coursework:

Artist's statement

"The horse treads patiently through history and has held my fascination since childhood. I must understand function to express form, history to understand today. The creative process is a joyous way to learn more about both. Strength through structure, music in movement, ideas without words - horses free people to dream."

  • January, 1996 "The Spirit of EQUUS", Juried show of equine art, sponsored by the Georgia Dressage and Combined Training Association, Atlanta, GA.

  • September, 1995 Los Alamos Artists Studio Tour; juried membership in a cooperative of professional artists who open their studios to the public for a weekend event.

  • July, 1995 North American Model Horse Showers' Association 1995 Nationals: work earned five National Championships, six Reserve National Championships and ten National Top Ten Awards.
