Recommended Tools and Supplies for Laf'n Bear Workshops

Studio Basics

I expect all students to bring the following items with them to class:

  • Your favorite sculpting/modeling tools, suggestions follow
  • Calipers or Dividers, a small pair
  • 12" ruler
  • Wire cutters
  • Pliers
  • Notebook or sketch pad
  • Pens, pencils
  • Your favorite references
  • An old hand towel or two
  • Comfy work clothes

For the most part, these are items that you already use around the house.  However, there are tools made especially for working with non-hardening clay, please bring several with you to the workshop.  You don't need to invest in a whole set, but one or two of each major type will help you greatly.

Required Text for "Wire to Whinny":
An Atlas of Animal Anatomy For Artists
W. Ellenberger, Dover Pub.

Required for "Legs" Workshop:
The above plus
Animal Painting and Anatomy

W. Frank Calderon, Dover Pub.

Both of these books are readily available through major book retailers and are moderately priced.
